Description |
Handheld triangular fan woven from coconut palm fibers (and possibly pandanus fibers)mostly in a simple tapestry weave with some areas where the direction of the wefts are turned to produce open weaving; Weaving begins by splitting the leaves on two coconut fronts and braiding the divisions together to form the handle and lower center portion of the fan; Ends of each leaf then flare outward to form warps, with additional palm or pandanus fibers serving as weft fibers; Distal end of handle (nearest fan) is wrapped in 3-ply braided sennit cordage. |
