| Description | Small rectangular Crystal-style rug woven entirely in plain weft-faced tapestry technique with interlocking joins; Banded and borderless design includes a central horizontal band of truncated diamonds (white outlined in tan) on a dark brown background bordered by a serrated zigzag line in brown mustard color, all on plain gray background; On either side of the central band is a wider band that contains a row of four contiguous concentric, terraced diamonds (brown mustard, green, white, medium and dark brown, rust brown) on a rust brown background; At either end is a sequence of three narrow bands: the first one shows a row of 1- small serrated, concentric diamonds in dark brown and brown mustard or gold and brown mustard, all on a gray background; Second narrow band at end is woven in Crystal wavy technique in rust brown and gray; Final band along each end is plain rust brown; Selvage cords are olive green; End cords are gray; Selvage and end cords are braided together at each corner. Irene Clark is known for her bold designs and use of darker vegetal colors than those typically associated with Crystal style rugs. | |
