Description | Rectangular yei-style rug woven entirely in plain weft-faced tapestry technique with non-interlocking joins; Design consists of row of three standing yei figures, each with white legs, upper torsos, and faces, and wearing multi-colored skirts and holding long feather and ribbon streamers in their outstretched hands; A fourth guardian yei with white legs, upper torso and face and half red-half turquoise colored body is located along one side of the rig, with its body extending along the bottom and up the other side; All figures are woven on a light gray background and rug lacks a border; Rug does not have selvage cords; End cords are white; Typical of yei-style rugs, this one was woven longer than wide, although it is intended to be viewed wider than long. | |
