Description | Rectangular Chinle-style rug woven entirely in plain weft faced tapestry technique with non-interlocking joins; Borderless, banded design consists of horizontal bands including a design band of concentric serrated diamonds in dark blue, rose, and white on a light gray background, with the entire band repeated three times, alternating with plainer bands in the same colors; The bands at either end of the rug are plain straight edged bands, while the two plainer bands toward the center of the rug also include the beading technique, accomplished by changing the color of the weft yarn with each pass of the shuttle so that the same color yarn passes over or under only the even or odd numbered warps; Selvage cords and end cords are blue-gray in color. Compare this rug with CAS 2013-0003-0015, another rug by Ella Yazzie and whose design is identical. | |
