Description | Large adze blade fashioned from a piece of tridacna shell that has been roughly ground to a rectangular shape that is triangular in cross-section; One surface has a pronounced median ridge running almost its entire length; Proximal end is rounded, while distal end has been ground down at an oblique angle on the face opposite the median ridge to form a V-shaped cutting edge; For use in canoe carving, this blade would have been attached to a wooden handle. | |
