| Description | Breadfruit pounder, chipped and ground to shape from a single piece of coral; Broad convex base flare outward to pronounced shoulder, then abruptly tapers inward and rises steeply to form a tall, tapered cylindrical handle, and finally flares outward again to form a broad, flat top about 3/4 the diameter of the base; Top of pounder is carved with five small knobs (4 at cardinal directions and 5th one in center); All surfaces are carefully shaped and minimally smoothed; Color is white. | |
