| Description | 2-dimensional wall hanging carved from a single piece of wood, depicting a bird of paradise that is perched atop a drum (?) with its wings spread fully to display its brilliant plumage; Portions of the carving are stained black and others are stained a dark brown; Decorative details of the drum and the bird’s plumage are carved away revealing the natural color of the underlying wood; Reverse side of carving is stained a rust-brown color and then overpainted in black to depict a mask or possibly the head of an animal. | |
