| Description | 4-tier set of stacked boxes with single lid on top; Each box is rectangular shaped and constructed from five pieces of bamboo (bottom and four sides) and fitted with two additional slats on bottom to serve as supports but also to prevent the boxes from separating when stacked; Upper exterior edge of each side of each box is carved to preserve natural contours of the bamboo slat, while remaining surface is sanded flat; All surfaces of boxes and lids are painted with numerous coats of black lacquer, except for bamboo rims which are painted with red lacquer; Undersides and interiors of boxes and underside of lid are very, very smooth and shiny, while exterior surfaces are textured and show a matte finish. | |
