Description | Hand fan woven from coconut palm ribs (?), pandanus fibers, and natural and dyed raffia grass leaves; Bundle of warp ribs fan out into a V-shape and are wrapped in alternating bands of very narrow, undyed grass leaves alternating with bands of wider pandanus fibers that are dyed black red, pink, brown, green, and purple; Ends of warp fibers extend out along the rounded top edge of fan and two separate rows (one on front face and another on reverse face) of small raffia grass bundles are attached by means of one additional coconut palm rib that extends across width of fan. | |
