Description Deep oval basket with flat bottom and vertical sides, woven entirely in a wrapped-coiling technique; Thick coils are made of an undetermined material that is then wrapped in undyed raffia grass leaves; Rim is decorated with single row of small cowrie shells that are stuffed with a small piece of commercially woven blue fabric, which in turn, is tied to a continuous length of native cordage that is wrapped around the rim; At each end of the basket is an arched handle consisting of another thick coil that is wrapped in undyed raffia grass and then overwrapped with dyed rust brown raffia, and decorated with an additional row of cowrie shells similar to the basket’s rim.
