Materials Bone: whale vertebra
Description Two-dimensional, low relief whale bone carving in the form of a wall hanging mask, depicting a human face that is generally round but with a triangular chin; Prominent nose and open, angled mouth are carved in relief, while almond-shaped eye sockets are counter-sunk; Narrow diameter hole is carved in each eye socket to represent eyes, extending all the way through to the reverse side of the carving; Pair of holes at bottom of nose to represent nostrils also extend all the way through carving; Third pair of side-by-side holes is drilled through top of mask to facilitate hanging it for display.
