Description | Pair of snow shoes whose wooden frames are made of two pieces that are stained with red ochre and steamed and bent to shape, overlapping at the distal ends where they are overwrapped with sinew laces; Each shoe is fitted with three wooden cross-braces; Center section of each shoe is woven with thin hide lacings for the shoe itself and with slightly heavier hide lacings for the foot; Distal and proximal sections of each shoe are carefully woven with thin sinew laces in a small diamond pattern; Additional sinew laces extend down the center of each shoe from the distal end to the center section and from the proximal end to the center section. | |
