| Description | Kava bowl carved from a single piece of wood; Bowl is supported on twelve equally spaced cylindrical legs that extend downward from upper sides of bowl; Basin of bowl is circular, with a rounded underside; Lip of bowl extends flat over legs and has eight flat edges, creating an octagon; Lip is decorated with an inner and outer border of small, incised triangles, inlaid with shell; Between triangle motif borders are various larger geometric incised designs, also inlaid with shell detail; Much of the shell inlay is missing; Overall color is dark brown. | |
