Description Hand crafted Balinese statue made of wood, covered with Chinese coins; The statue depicts the Hindu god Garuda in dragon form; The Hindu narrative tells of many gods in their faith, Garuda being the form of one transmorphic animistic god, the one who watched over the people of the household; Used as a symbol of protection; The head of the Garuda is formed of carved wood, primarily painted in red with white and gold accents; Entire figure is sitting on a tapered rectangular carved wooden base, which is painted black and decorated with shallow carvings; The tail point of the Garuda is also carved wood, decorated in red and gold paint; Black Chinese coins connected with white string cover the wooden elements, save the feet, horn, head, and tail point of the Garuda.
