Small, shallow oval basket with flat base and short, vertical sides; Coiled on single-rod foundation; Simple design of a few short, black coiled segments interspersed with natural coils at regular intervals, just under the rim; Decoration at the short sides consists of pairs of light blue glass beads flanked by small ivory bead below and smaller ivory bead above; Lower ivory beads have incised bull’s eye-like designs along edges that are inked in with red-brown; Beads are strung and attached to the basket with leather cordage; A small carved ivory whale fluke is attached to the bottom interior of basket. |
