Description 3-dimensional carved figure in standing position, possibly representing Broad-Faced Katsina (Wuyak-kuita), Sand Katsina, or Ogre Woman Katsina (Soyok’ Wuhti) who arrives in the spring when children misbehave; Face is black with small, protruding cylindrical eyes and protruding red tab ears; Mouth is a broad rectangle that extends across face, outlined in red and decorated with central black zigzag line, representing bared teeth; Small tuft of grey feathers at crown of head, and a section of long black hair extends from forehead, covering part of right side of face; Figure has a corn cob body, displaying only kernels and no husk; Kernels are painted yellowish-green and outlined in black, with small white circles outlined in black in the center of each; Figure stands on a small round red base and is unsigned; Original tag reads “Hopi Arts & Crafts, 2nd Mesa, Arizona; Object: Corn Doll; Craft worker: Fabbie Kagenvaema; No. 9-88”.
