Description Aholi or Chief’s Lieutenant katsina; Three-dimensional carved figure in standing position; The figure’s head is painted blue with red, yellow, black, and white designs around each ear; The eyes are horizontal slits and the mouth is a black triangle; The ears are white disks with blue designs and red fur around them; A bundle of white and grey feathers extend vertically from the top of the head; The figure wears a carved, multicolor ruff around its neck; The figure’s body is painted blue, yellow, and red; Its hands are painted white; The figure wears a white kilt with red, green, and black designs and a sash painted red with black, blue, green, and white designs; It also wears a fabric cape painted with red, blue, yellow, and black and red moccasins with a green and white patterned band around the ankles; Around each wrist is a tie made of brown yarn; In the left hand it carries a white board and a yellow gourd, each on a string; In the right hand it carries a staff with red, white, and grey feathers at the top; The figure is standing on an unpainted wooden base; Signature on the bottom reads “Leo Lacapa Jr. Hopi Aholi; There is also a small white sticker on the bottom of the base with the printed word “potcarrier” and the handwritten words “set with Eototo”.
