Description Koyemsi or Mudhead Clown katsina; Three-dimensional carved figure in sitting position; The figure’s body and head are painted reddish-brown; The four gourds and long horn protruding from the head each have a small grey feather protruding from them; The figure has protruding eyes and a long snout; he is wearing a black fabric tie around his neck and a black felt kilt with one green and one red stripe along the bottom; On the right wrist is a white bracelet and on the left wrist is a grey bracelet; In his left hand he is holding a partially completed carving of a katsina, and in his right hand he is holding a carving knife; His calves are painted black; He is seated on an unpainted circular base with his legs crossed at the ankle, looking down at the carving; Signature on the bottom reads “S. Talas Box 6684 Polacca, AZ 86092”.
