Description Woodpecker katsina; Three-dimensional carved figure in upright/dancing position; The figure’s face is painted blue and framed with red, yellow, black, and white designs; There is a patch of brown and tan-colored carved feathers atop the figure’s head as well as down the back of the head and neck; Three feathers stand upright from the figure’s head; The figure has a long, straight black beak; Each ear has a small brown feather protruding from it and is surrounded by a small tuft of red, yellow, and blue; Around the figure’s neck is a carved green ruff; The figure is wearing a red and yellow top with blue, red, and yellow bands around each of his upper arms; On the figure’s left wrist is a brown bracelet with a white flower design; On its right wrist is a carved brown tie; The figure is also wearing a tan-colored kilt decorated with a green, black, red, and white design; A red sash is draped over across his right shoulder and tucked into the tan-colored dance sash around his waist; A reddish-brown fox skin hangs from the waist at the back; The figure is also wearing blue and red moccasins and is carrying a blue stick in each hand; The figure is standing on an unpainted, circular base with the name “Ambrose Tewa” carved into the bottom.
