Description | Dark, tray-like basket; Round shallow basket with flat center whose walls flare upward very gradually; Basket is woven entirely in wicker technique using single wefts over multiple warps; Warp material is either unpeeled scrub sumac or common dunebroom stems and weft material is rabbitbrush stems; At rim, one stem in each warp group or bundle is bent over and incorporated into rim bundle that is coil-wrapped with yucca leaves; Remaining warp stems are clipped at rim; Wide spiral design created using light and dark undyed fibers; 3rd Mesa. | |
