Traditional women’s headdress, or shushut, from Northwest Pakistan; Long headdress woven primarily of thick brown wool; Top half is covered entirely with cowry shells, with some small beads woven in between and a large red pom-pom at the top center; Bottom is decorated with buttons and beads of various sizes and colors, surrounding four cowry shell “flowers” with button centers; Bottom is bordered by fine line embroidery in green and blue, below which the wool of the warp extends as long fringe. |
