Large halibut hook made from 2 pieces of wood carved and joined together to form a V-shaped shank; Base is wrapped with plied string and with spruce root near juncture of two pieces; Steel nail is secured to shank with additional spruce root wrapping; Opposite shank is carved in half-round in form of standing human shown holding seal or otter; Features are stylized and burned. |
