Description | Small cylindrical basket with flat base and vertical sides; Basket is woven entirely in closed plain twining, except for single row of 3-strand twining at junction of base and sides; Base also alternates bands of closed plain twining with single rows where warps are exposed and crossed; Warp and weft material is rye grass stems; Designs are woven of dyed rye grass stems (or possibly raffia grass) in closed plain twining and consist of three parallel bands that encircle mid-section of basket; Center band is pink with green and maroon borders, while upper and lower bands are both maroon with green borders. | |
