Materials Shell: pearl oyster (Pinctada sp.); Hibiscus (?) fiber
Description Composite fishing lure and hook comprising an elongated shaft that is cut from a pearl oyster shell and tapers to a point at both ends; Pair of small tangs are located near each basal lateral edge, and a separate upward curving shell hook is secured to the tangs, perpendicular to the shaft, with native cordage; Vestiges of plant fibers that originally hung pendant from the base of the shaft as fringe are also visible; Single hole is drilled through top of shaft to secure it to a fishing line.
