Description | Deep basket with flat rectangular base and vertical sides that rise to an oval mouth; Basket is woven entirely in simple plaiting technique, except for single row of plain twining immediately below the rim; Warp fibers are bent over at rim and woven in a diagonal stitch to bind them to a coil-wrapped reinforcing bundle around the interior of the rim; Warp and weft material is cedar bark; Designs are woven of dyed black cedar bark and consist of two vertical checkerboard bands that cross at a right angle on the base and extend up the sides and ends, and 3 horizontal checkerboard bands that encircle the sides of the basket. | |
