| Description | Large round shallow basket with flat base and widely flaring sides, woven in coiled technique over bundle foundation; Warp material is split cattail stems and primary weft material is peeled and split willow shoots; Designs are woven of black devil's claw pods and include small solid black circular area in center of base, encircled by band of 3 birds (wild turkeys?) alternating with 3 standing male human figures with arms at their sides, with each figure beginning on the base and extending partially up the sides; An additional standing male figure is positioned directly above each of the bird images, and the remaining space on the sides is filled with 3 standing female human figures and 3 standing male human figures (all with upraised arms) and 4 small crosses or coyote tracks; Final rim coil is woven entirely in black devil's claw. | |
