Description | Man's ear ornament in the form of a large thick oval-shaped disc which was positioned in front of the wearer's ear; A tusk-like projection that extends outward is carved with a very small tiki figure near its distal end and was positioned behind the ear; Because of the heavy weight of ear ornaments such as this, they were sometimes supported by cordage that passed over the top of the wearer's head, and this example is, indeed, perforated on the side of the tusk-like portion. | |
