Description | Daybreak lantern from the Yedo period, consisting of interior wooden box frame mounted on false bottom with small drawer; Sides of frame were originally covered with paper screens; Front side of frame is removable; Horizontal slat across lower part of frame has cutout for holding cup-shaped ceramic reservoir; Black wooden box with round cutout on front and crescent cutouts on sides (also originally covered with paper screens) fits over entire interior framework. | |
