Description | Bowl with flat base and nearly vertical sides; Low relief carving design shows a background of hatch marks and a foreground of an animal head in profile; The animal has a large, round eye and appears to have a very long nose which arches up and curls at the end; A second curling appendage arches backward from the nose bridge, behind and above the head; The animal appears to wear a headdress or have plumes flowing behind and separated from the face with a band of rectangles; Design is repeated twice with one panel wider and more elaborate than the other; Brown with traces of red pigment, possibly cinnabar or hematite. | |
