Description | Round jar with flat base, flaring lower sides, below mid-level shoulder, and tall tapering neck rising to a straight rim and narrow mouth; Interior and exterior are scraped smooth; Exterior is coated with a slip and highly burnished, except for base; Designs on exterior are painted in matte black slip and consist of band of contiguous solid triangles hanging pendant from the rim, paired solid triangles with wide negative diagonal space between triangles in each pair, forming a band that encircles lower shoulder, and band of solid scallops just above the band of triangles; Jar is reduction fired to yield black-on-black color, and is unsigned. | |
