Description | Arrow with a reed shaft that accounts for approx. 2/3 of the total length and whose proximal end is wrapped with bark bast of wild cotton tree for approx. 2 cm; Wooden foreshaft is inserted into distal end of reed shaft and secured with additional bast fibers; Reed shaft is painted with series of parallel vertical black lines just below foreshaft hafting; Distal end of foreshaft is painted green copper color and is notched for insertion of bone point (now missing except for proximal end) that is hafted with fine copper-colored coconut fiber; Coconut fiber wrapped area is painted with fine pattern of red, green, and white diamonds. | |
