Round salad or bread and butter sized plate with flat base and very low, flaring sides; Interior and exterior are scraped very smooth, coated with a slip and highly burnished; Design band around interior rim is painted in matte black slip and consists of 21 shallow contiguous semicircles with single short line extending down between adjacent semicircles (variation of rain cloud design); Plate is reduction fired to black-on-black color; Signature "Marie" is incised in script on base. |
