Round shallow dinner-sized plate with flat base and very low, flaring sides; Interior and exterior are scraped very smooth and highly burnished; Painted design around interior rim is painted in matte black slip and consists of 4 large contiguous triangular units with very concave lateral edges that form a negative pattern of 4 overlapping semicircles in center of plate; Within each painted triangular unit is a negative rectangle containing 3 dots; Within each negative semicircle (just below rim) is a pair of stacked triangles; Plate is reduction fired to black-on-black color; Signature "Marie" is incised in script on base. |
