Round plate with flat base and very low, flaring sides; Interior and exterior are scraped very smooth and covered with a reddish slip on exterior and a cream-colored slip on interior; Design on interior consists of central orange rectangle outlined in black and positioned inside larger, negative rectangle, and flanked on either side by 4 contiguous elongated black triangles; Pair of orange semicircles outlined in black (deer print motif) are attached to triangles; Pendant from 2 points on the rim (opposite each other) are 3 black contiguous semicircles (cloud motif) and an orange terraced triangle outlined in black (kiva steps motif); Signature "Maria / Popovi" [Maria Martinez - Popovi Da] is incised in script on base. |
