Description | A: Oval shaped bowl with flat base and vertical sides; Interior and exterior are scraped smooth; Exterior is also coated with red slip and highly burnished; Design band around exterior sides is painted in beige slip and is divided into 4 panels, two of which contain a negative terraced triangle (kiva steps design) and 2 that contain paired negative triangles (feather design); Signature "Rose" is incised in script on base; B: Flat oval lid with vertical loop handle attached in center; Interior and exterior are scraped smooth and exterior is coated with red slip and highly burnished; Designs similar to the kiva steps and feather designs on the bowl are painted in beige slip on either side of the handle; Lid is unsigned. | |
