Description | Shallow round basket with flat base and low, flaring sides, woven in coiled technique over bundle coils; Final two rim coils are pulled slightly upward and outward at two points opposite each other to form carrying handles; Warp material is galleta grass stems and weft material is natural and vegetal dyed split yucca leaves; Design on base consists of terraced checkerboard zigzag band that forms a roughly square shape, two sides of which are black and rust brown and two sides are black and yellow; Design around sides of basket consists of a terraced checkerboard zigzag line that also alternates colors between rust brown and black or yellow and black; Designs are all woven on a natural sun-bleached background, including the rim. | |
