| Description | Deep round basket with flat base and nearly vertical sides, woven entirely in coiled technique over medium-sized bundle coils; Warp material is galleta grass stems and weft material is natural and vegetal dyed split yucca leaves; Design on sides of basket consists of two bands, each containing 6 freestanding quadrupeds (deer?, horses?), whose colors alternate between rust brown and a slightly darker brown; Each figure's eyes and neck hair are woven in overlay stitches of undyed weft; Third band that encircles lower sides of basket (below first register of animal figures) contains 4 pair of rust brown elongated segments; Background color is natural sun-bleached color. | |
