Description | Untitled serigraph depicting standing figure of human-raven, shown wearing seaweed skirt and a cape which hangs off its right shoulder and carrying a staff in its left hand; 10 humanoid heads with arms are shown on raven's breast, and around him are smaller images of a fish, 2 birds, an orca, and a frog, all printed in black, green, and rust brown; On reverse is attached type-written version of Haida creation story, as told to Germaine Mauriaucourt by Arthur Moody at Skidegate Mission, Queen Charlotte Islands in 1955. [Germaine Mauriaucourt was born in Vancouver, British Columbia of French and English ancestry and spent the summer of 1955 among the Haida people at Skidegate, where she claimed to have been “adopted into the Moody family (Haida carvers) and into the Raven and Wolf clans.â€] | |
