| Description | Painting on light gray watercolor paper entitled "Dancers" depicting row of 7 human-like figures with the arms interlocked, dressed in white and gray outfits; Figures' faces are turquoise-colored and each has a rust-brown feather (?) on the back of its head; Seated Kokopelli flute player is shown below and various geometric and pictographic designs fill the remaining space; Support paper is finely splattered with multicolors of paint to give appearance of gray sand; The following is handwritten in pencil on reverse, "Dancers (Katchinas + Flute Player) (Petroglyph found in Galisteo Basin) Joe Herrera $20-". This painting was selected by Ruth and Charles deYoung Elkus in 1955 as their annual holiday card, printed by the Grabhorn Press in San Francisco. | |
