Painting on brown mat board entitled "Koshare in Prayer of Thanks" depicting Koshare clown standing at left and shown in left profile with his arms held out in front; His body is painted in alternating gray and brown stripes and he wears blue breechclout and cape; 4 cornstalks are shown in right foreground against outline of pueblo in background; Rainbow arch ending in deity's body curves upward from pueblo to left edge and 3 stylized clouds fill the sky; Signature "Ku-Pe-Ru '58" is printed in brown paint in lower right corner; "Theodore Suina, Cochiti Pueblo, Pena Blanca, N. Mex. Koshare in Prayer of Thanks, $40.00" is handwritten in pencil on reverse. |
