| Description | Untitled painting on white paper depicting 3 Plains Indian fancy dancers; Figures at left and right are shown in left and right profiles, respectively and are mirror images of each other; Each wears beaded moccasins, wristlets, and vest, feathered rosettes on both knees and both upper arms, breechclout with pair of long red streams, eagle feather bustle, and blue head cap with rainbow-colored horsehair roach; Central dancer is shown with his back to viewer and is dressed similarly to other dancers but without vest or blue cap; Signature "W. Crumbo" is printed in brown ink to right of lower center. Original catalog card reads, “Exhibited by Suzie Peters at San Francisco Museum of Art, 1942. Peters was Indian School matron/teacher at Anadarko, OK ca 1918 to ca. 1940s.†| |
