| Description | Untitled painting on light gray paper depicting eagle dancer shown in full frontal view in standing position with outstretched arms; Dancer wears blue beaded moccasins, beaded garters, wristlets, armlets, and belt and blue beaded or embroidered apron, eagle feather bustle, and headdress with feathered rosette and yellow horsehair roach; Row of eagle feathers form "wings" along dancer's arms; Dancer is flanked on his right by two seated women wearing buckskin dresses and shoulder blankets and on his left by a man wearing buckskin pants, beaded vest, and eagle feather head bonnet and playing hand drum; Signature "Crumbo" is printed in orange paint near lower right corner. Original catalog card reads, “Exhibited by Suzie Peters at San Francisco Museum of Art, 1942. Peters was Indian School matron/teacher at Anadarko, OK ca 1918 to ca. 1940s.†| |
