Description | Untitled painting on tan paper depicting male dancer shown in right profile, bent at waist and knees, standing on left foot and with arms hanging down in front; Dancer is dressed in moccasins, breechclout with brown apron and buffalo tail in back; And buffalo headdress with eagle plumes on back; Human hand print is painted on dancer's upper chest and his shoulders and upper arms appear to be painted white with two concentric red circles; A rope encircles his torso and trails behind him; In his hands he carries a green staff; Signature "Tsa' To' Ke" is printed in brown paint in lower left corner. This painting was selected by Ruth and Charles deYoung Elkus in 1948 as their annual holiday card, printed by the Grabhorn Press in San Francisco. | |
