| Description | Teaspoon with oval-shaped bowl and short flat handle that expands toward proximal end; Proximal end of handle is stamped with horned moon symbol (copied from hallmark for Bert I. Staples' shop, Crafts del Navajo, Coolidge, NM); Reverse of handle is stamped with "W" (hallmark for M.L. Woodard's, Gallup, NM) and image of a Navajo man's head (hallmark of Joe D. Yazzie, a benchsmith at Woodard’s); This and 7 other teaspoons with the Woodard hallmark were commissioned by the Elkuses much later than the original teaspoons that were made at Bert Staples shop in 1932. | |
