Description Pair of round ceramic buttons that are concave-convex in cross-section, each with a pair of small round button holes in its center; Both interior and exterior are scraped smooth; Interior is coated with red slip and lightly polished; Exterior is coated with white slip; Painted geometric design on exterior includes pair of negative white crescent shapes outlined in black and shown on black background, and flanked by red pointed oval motifs; Buttons are unsigned. These were probably made by Zia Pueblo students at the Santa Fe or Albuquerque Indian Schools.
