| Description | A: Calumet, elbow type pipe bowl; Tapered ovular base is wide at insertion end and faceted at distal end; Bottom is flattened; Bowl is tall, round and slightly flared; Six areas of small, shallow relief bands are evenly spaced throughout; B: Cylindrical pipe stem with a slight widening at mouthpiece; Shaft is plain from insertion end to about 2/3 down length; The remainder of shaft is decorated with braided quills dyed red with triangular and geometric patterns in orange, light blue, purple, and white; At the top of the quills is a band of mallard feathers mounted over lengths of red-dyed horsehair. | |
