| Description | Large shallow round wheel-thrown bowl with short footed base and rounded flaring sides that rise to a flattened everted rim with rounded lip; Interior and exterior are scraped smooth; Exterior is covered with dark blue glaze; Interior is covered with a white glaze and the painted designs are painted as negative images and appear in white outlined in brick-red against a mustard yellow background; Kneeling figure of woman (?) is pictured in center, wearing a polka-dotted robe and billowing head scarf; Encircling her along the sides of the bowl is a wide band of scroll-like motifs that is repeated over and over within 12 smaller panels; Framing band around rim of bowl repeats a single geometric motif, possibly an Arabic script. | |
