Description Large wooden Byzantine bread cachet, likely used for stamping communion bread; Hand-carved from a single piece of wood; Stamp design divided into nine sections; The four “corner” (triangular) sections show a plant-like geometric design, representing palms; The three vertical center sections contain letter, notably "XC" and "IC" which stand for Chi or Christos for Christ; The two outer horizontal panels contain abstract Christian images, possibly representing the Holy Trinity and and an image of a church; The handle of the stamp is square and has a four-section design with the IC XC inscription for Christos again.
