Description | “Napoletana” style coffee maker comprised of a double-filtered chamber nested within two larger chambers, one of which has a spout; Water is placed in the spoutless chamber and ground coffee is placed in the double-filtered chamber, which is inserted into the top of the water-filled chamber; The spouted chamber is fitted upside-down on top; A wooden handle screws into the side of the fitted chambers at their seam, securing the pieces together; The pot it placed over heat until the water begins to boil at which point the pot is inverted, allowing the hot water to drip down through the coffee grinds and the freshly brewed coffee to drip into the spouted chamber, which now serves as a serving pot; Although these coffee pots often came with frames in which they were suspended over a flame via the handle and a peg on the opposite side of the pot, this pot has a weld where the peg should be, indicating it was used on a stove top instead of in a suspension frame. | |
