| Description | Cast iron pot for heating sake (rice wine); Rounded base is supported on three very short pointed feet; Lower sides are gently rounded and then rise to a high shoulder with a wide, inward-turned rim; Short, open U-shaped spout extends out from upper sides, just below shoulder; Flat stationary brass handle is attached to shoulder opposite spout and in two places on shoulder just above and to either side of the spout; Flat brass lid has small knob handle in the form of two flowers; Exterior surface of ewer on sides and shoulder are covered with series of very small and closely spaced nipples arranged in perfectly straight diagonal rows, against an ochre-colored background. | |
